alfathustra - I was born and grew up in Bandung, a creative hub in Westjava, where I studied Film and Photography at the Institut Seni Budaya Indonesia (ISBI). After having gained professional experience as an assistant director and cameraman in Jakarta-based film productions, My most recent long-term project as multimedia creative within the local NGO “Kitorang”, based in Raja Ampat, focuses on socioeconomic inequalities in the West Papua Area. In 2018 I was part of the international film crew by Niklaus Hilber, when shooting the movie “Bruno Manser – Die Stimme des Regenwaldes”, drawing on the life of the Swiss environmental activist and his relation to the Penan tribe in Malaysia. As you can see from my diverse range of activities I focus on projects that combine my passion for film and photography and social engagement. My background in the film industry as well as in various community based non-formal educational and environmental sustainability programs is moreover reflected in my visual language by exploring social storytelling through the lens of local contexts. Thus, I love to tell a story through pictures, shoot-by-shoot, frame-by-frame, and it would be a pleasure for me to share my contagious passion with interested people. Driven by my passion for film and travelling I was able to explore almost every corner of Indonesia by different short-time photography and Video projects. In 2018 my personal path led me to Germany, whereby I was taking part in a short-film project in Berlin. I strongly believe that intercultural cooperation enables you to go beyond your limits. I enjoy working with people from all different backgrounds, experiment on how to overcome language barriers through creative strategies, and I like to get inspired by fresh ideas through collaborative practices.
